I wasnt going to submit this but the wife said I should. This will be the first official fishing tournament of any kind for me. Anyway, this bass was caught at 6:50am on Sunday June 15th at Sandy River. I was using a Rapalla Broken Back Minnow up against the banks around 2 to 3 feet deep. I caught 2 more bass, several brime and a catfish, all smaller than the bass in the photo.
The picture is bad. When I held the fish up to my measuring tape he was 16" in length, maybe a hair over. For the life of me I could not figure out how to hold the fish right beside my tape measure and hold the camera, the fish would not stay straight up against the tape. I have done it with smaller fish before but this is the biggest bass I have ever caught. The only way I could get a shot was lay him in the footwell, and because of the distance from the tape the fish looks smaller. I measured it several times with two hands holding it on the tape and it was 16". I need a better method of taking a photo, however I never thought in a million years I would catch a nice size bass today. Anyway, I had a great time at the demo day and I may be looking to upgrade my Tarpon to the Ride, nice yak. Thanks for this contest, win or not I was in my kayak on the water, that to me is a win win.
Thanks, Scott Harrell.
